OPINIONS ABOUT WORKING AT ES-KONSULT
Helen Bigun
Who are you and what have you studied?
For the last 15 years I have been working with risk management and risk
and safety analyses. A M. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at Linköping Institute of Technology together with studies within Civil Engineering at Lund Institute of Technology arouse my interest in risk management. To supplement the "hard subjects" in my education I studied "soft subjects" namely Human Factors in Manufacturing systems at Nottingham
University, England. After graduation I was attracted to research studies
at the Royal Institute of Technology which in 1999 resulted in a licentiate's dissertation in Risk analysis of hydrogen as a transportation fuel.
What do you work with today?
Today I work with reviewing, managing and implementing risk and safety analyses for clients within the industries of nuclear power, railways and processing. My duties cover production of inquiries for different projects/commitments to manage, implement and deliver results that satisfy the client's needs. To educate and develop employees of different clients in risk management are also part of my job.
Why did you choose ES?
After working 8 years at a large consulting firm with approximately 500 employees, I was curious to work in a smaller consulting company. Because I previously knew some people at ES-konsult, I knew pretty much about the company before I started here and shortly became very curious and inspired by working with and among them. It has been 5 years since my decision and I haven't regret it at all. The opposite actually! My thoughts regarding that it was a competent, nice bunch of people, together trying to create conditions for a developing and enjoyable work environment was verified. It should be added that everything is done in a spirit to strive to be in the frontline of respective competence areas. If I can recommend to apply to ES-konsult? My answer is: Definitely!!
Why should others choose ES?
I think that if you are interested in working as a consultant in the nuclear industry you should consider to start working for us beacuse we can offer both challenges and development. Transferring experience and knowledge to younger colleages is something that is natural for us who has been around for a while. With us you become part of a fun bunch of people with mixed ages and experinces with one thought in common, that our work is fun and exciting.

Who are you and what have you studied?
I have studied the Operation Technology Program with specialization in processing at Chalmers University of Technology and International project management in Skövde. I have worked in control rooms, with education
and with different types of projects at Ringhals nuclear power plant.
What do you work with today?
At this moment I work as a project manager in a unique modernization project in the nuclear industry. The project involves exchanging the whole control room and all instrumental and control equipment for Ringhals 2 , and producing a new full-scale simulator! My sub-projects have focused
on safety analyses and safety analysis reports as well as nuclear power
plant reports to the authorities. Right now, we are a group of 15 persons who write system descriptions regarding the entire modernization. The job offers a large network and is very challenging!
Why did you choose ES?
I chose ES-konsult because I liked the company's focus on personal development which agreed with my own demands for an exciting job and continual learning. There is an healthy intention to develop the employees, both through education and through a wide variety of projects. The company's "just the right little size" attracted me because you get close with your collegues and the management, which creates a pleasent atmosphere. Since ES-konsult is working with nuclear power, it became a natural choice for me because of my previous experience within this industry, a industry that is hotter then ever with many great projects going on both in Sweden and abroad!
